  MONITOR

Is a video display screen and the hard shell that holds it. In its most common usage, monitor refers only to devices that contain no electronic equipment other than what is essentially needed to display and adjust the characteristics of an image.

                     TYPES OF MONITOR

CRT MONITOR

Cathode Ray Tube, or in simpler words CRT, are oldest among all available models these days. These monitors function on the old cathode ray tube phenomena. These monitors allow the use of external devices like light pens and light guns. One of the drawbacks of these monitors is their weight and another is their size.

LCD MONITOR

Liquid crystal display monitors are not the latest but the later version than CRT monitors. Unlike CRT monitors, these monitors are compact and slim. These monitors do consume low and almost have no dependency on backlight technology. Due to its quality of consuming low power and compact in shape and size, it has been well adapted in the time when energy efficiency is the main concern.

PLASMA MONITOR

Plasma screen and/or plasma monitors are considered as high contrast screen with bright, vibrant colors and brightness that claims to make your visual experience worthwhile. It works on plasma discharge on almost ideally flat panel of glass. The discharge is composed of xenon and neon without any use of mercury in it.  Plasma monitors are in, mainly because of their excellent and remarkable viewing angles, color saturation, and contrasts.

SED MONITORS

SED is abbreviated form of Surface-conducted electron-emitted display. These are high resolution and flat penal display screens. Some of these display units are even more than 40 inches in diagonal measurements.
These display units are composed from an electron-emitting array and layer of phosphorus. Array and layer of phosphorus are separated by thin sheet that allows air to pass. SED consumes less energy in comparison with CRT and it gives higher resolution picture.

SCANNER

A scanner is a device that captures images from photographic prints, posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for computer editing and display. Scanners come in hand-held, feed-in, and flatbed types and for scanning black-and-white only, or color. Very high resolution scanners are used for scanning for high-resolution printing, but lower resolution scanners are adequate for capturing images for computer display.

TYPES OF SCANNER

FLATBED SCANNER

Flatbed scanners are some of the most commonly used scanners as it has both home and office functions. The way they scan documents is that a mechanism rolls under the document to obtain the image. For a businesses that have a need for high processing abilities, the flatbed scanner can scan any number of documents with a click of a button.

SHEET FED SCANNER

Sheet-fed scanners cost between $300 and $800. This type of scanner works like a flatbed scanner except that the image is fed through the scanner and moves along the beam to be read rather than the beam moving. This type is not useful for books, but only single sheets.

INTEGRATED SCANNER

Integrated scanners are becoming one of the most modern types of scanners when it comes to obtaining images. ATMs feature this type of built-in scanner for check-processing and approval.

DRUM SCANNER

These types of scanners are used mainly for capturing a picture and producing at a very high resolution rate. There are only a few companies that make these scanners, considering the high cost of producing a scanner such as this. It is considered a a tremendous upgrade to a regular flatbed scanner.

PORTABLE SCANNER

Portable scanner are designed to capture text and other data while you are on the go. The scanner is powered by batteries and once you scan the text, the content is stored on the portable scanner. Once you get home, you can transfer the content to a computer. Transferring to your computer is done by using a cable or a wireless connection.

PRINTER

In computing, a printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human-readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media.
The world's first computer printer was a 19th-century mechanically driven apparatus invented by Charles Babbage for his difference engine.

TYPES OF PRINTER

DOT MATRIX

A type of impact printer that produces characters and illustrations by striking pins against an ink ribbon to print closely spaced dots in the appropriate shape. Dot-matrix printers are relatively expensive and do not produce high-quality output. However, they can print to multi-page forms (that is, carbon copies), something laser and ink-jet printers cannot do.

INK JET

A type of printer that works by spraying ionized ink at a sheet of paper. Magnetized plates in the ink's path direct the ink onto the paper in the desired shapes. Ink-jet printers are capable of producing high quality print approaching that produced by laser printers. A typical ink-jet printer provides a resolution of 600 dots per inch, although some newer models offer higher resolutions.

LASER

A type of printer that utilizes a laser beam to produce an image on a drum. The light of the laser alters the electrical charge on the drum wherever it hits. The drum is then rolled through a reservoir of toner, which is picked up by the charged portions of the drum. Finally, the toner is transferred to the paper through a combination of heat and pressure. This is also the way copy machines work.

PHOTO PRINTER

Is a type of printer use for printing photographs.

DYE-SUBLIMATION PRINTER

Is a type of printer which employs a printing process that uses heat to transfer dye to a medium such as a plastic card, printer paper or poster paper.

THERMAL PRINTER

Is a type of printer that produces a printed image by selectively heating coated thermo chromic paper, or thermal paper as it is commonly known, when the paper passes over the thermal print head. The coating turns black in the areas where it is heated which then produce an image.

ALL IN ONE PRINTER

A printer than can also do scanning, fax and make copies

PLOTTER

A large device use to print large posters and documents
